In this section, I would like to highlight our most popular content among the various article types published within Bioanalysis. From our many research papers published this year, the Research Article by Shilpi Mahajan and her colleagues ‘High-sensitivity quantification of antisense oligonucleotides for pharmacokinetic characterization’ stood out [1]. Their research focuses on the popular topic of antisense oligonucleotides as a drug modality and the development of a new branched DNA assay for their quantification.
Our most popular Review article this year was written by Jessica Feauto and her colleagues, titled ‘Critical reagent inventory management system and web portal specifically optimized for supporting external clients’ [2]. Their manuscript describes the use and design of a critical reagent inventory management system for the bioanalytical audience, known as LCM+. LCM+ was compared against the current alternative software, and their article explains its advantages, including controlled user access, documentation, and data collection and optimized process workflows, which are built on user requirements.
Editorials are short articles that provide an insight into, or snapshot of issues of topical importance to the journal’s target audience, and the intention is that they offer an expert perspective on a topic of interest. These often prove to be very popular reads and this year our most popular Editorial was written by Natalia Manousi, titled ‘Greener bioanalytical sample preparation. What is next?’ [3]. This article discusses the concept and future of green chemistry and its importance in the development of environmentally friendly methodologies and continued reduction in pollution levels and lowered environmental footprints.
Industry-led recommendation papers and perspectives continue to be our most popular articles downloaded by our audience in 2022. This included all three parts of our 2021 White Papers on Recent Issues in Bioanalysis, which were our three most downloaded papers of 2022 (Table 1).
